Quite simply, Daytona Beach was the birthplace of NASCAR back in 1948 and it hosts the "Great American Race" - the Daytona 500 - to start each Nextel Cup Series season. The area is also home for NASCAR's and International Speedway Corporation's headquarters.

This is the only proposal that connects the NASCAR Hall of Fame directly to a racetrack, that being Daytona International Speedway. "We offer a full-day guest experience," said John Saboor, executive director of the Central Florida Sports Commission.
