What turns you on?
• A full, rocking college basketball arena. Preferably Cameron Indoor Stadium, and the Dukies up 25 on North Carolina. No, make it 35.

What turns you off?
• Smokers who toss their butts out of the car window. That's what the ashtray is for, pal. Use it.

What sound do you love?
• The opening fanfare to 20th Centruy Fox movies. I always expect it to be immediately followed by the first bars of the theme to Star Wars.

What sound do you hate?
• Booming car stereos cruising by my house at 3 a.m.

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
• Meteorology. Seriously, you live in Hurricane Alley like I do, you become quite adept at analyzing low-pressure systems over West Africa.

What profession would you not like to participate in?
• Sponge diving

What was the first car you owned?
• A 1972 AMC Gremlin. Light blue with a white stripe down the side. The very definition of "chick magnet."

Which city is your favorite on the circuit?
• Atlanta. Always a concert, a pro sports event, or something going on. That the race weekends usually coincide with St. Patrick's Day and Halloween make Buckhead more lively than usual. Runner-up: Indianapolis.

Most memorable race you've attended?
• The 2001 Daytona 500, for obvious and unfortunate reasons.

Most enduring memory of your career?
• Kevin Harvick edging Jeff Gordon in Atlanta a few weeks later. That was goose-pimple stuff.
