Biography

Born in Hamilton, Ohio, too many years ago to count (actually 1961), Joe moved to Charlotte, N.C., in 1995 and has authored or co-authored five books, including The Wildest Ride: A History of NASCAR in 2001.

From 1995 through mid-November 2006 just before joining NASCAR.COM, he covered the Carolina Panthers and the NFL for the Winston-Salem Journal in North Carolina, and also worked part-time in radio in the Charlotte market.

From 1984 through March, 1995, Joe covered the Cleveland Cavaliers and the NBA for a chain of daily newspapers in Northeastern Ohio, and also served as a columnist for Basketball Digest. In addition, he has had free-lance articles published through the years in The Sporting News, Inside Sports, The Washington Post, The Cincinnati Enquirer and various other newspapers and magazines.

A graduate of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, Menzer continues to live in Charlotte along with his wife, Sarah, and their four children.
