As a new proud sponsor of NASCAR, Waste Management is actively involved in Winston Cup competition throughout the year. During each Winston Cup event, drivers compete for the Waste Management Picking Up Places Award, which goes to the driver that moves up the most places during each event, from their position on the starting grid to their position at the finish line. For example, say your favorite driver starts in 30th position and moves up to 4th place at the finish, they picked up 26 places. If that is the most places picked up compared to all other drivers, they are the winner.

Each Winston Cup event, from March 23-June 8, every eligible registrant who correctly predicts the winner of Waste Management's Picking Up Places Award will be included in a random drawing to determine the Weekly Winner. The Weekly Winner will win WM/NASCAR merchandise and qualify for the Grand Prize drawing.

From the ten (10) Weekly Winners, a random drawing will determine the Grand Prize Winner, which will receive an all expenses paid trip for two to the 2004 Daytona 500.
