| How long have you been riding? |
I always enjoyed riding dirt bikes when I was younger. My grandparents wouldn't let me have anything else [laughing]. I just enjoyed the freedom of riding on two wheels and started off on the dirt -- on the off-road trails. Once I graduated to the street, I thought, 'man, this is a whole lot better.'
You kind of have to watch out for the other guy, which I think is the case whether you're in a car or on a bike. You just have to be aware of your surroundings. I've never had any incidents on the street, so I've been real fortunate. |
| When did you start riding Harley-Davidson/Buell motorcycles? |
| I've owned Harleys since, man, I guess since the mid-'90s. I started off with a Sportster, of course, and gradually worked my way up from that.
Actually, I started off with an AMF Harley, a 1976 model. It needed some work on it, so I got it real reasonably. I tricked it all up and sold it, later on -- once I got it all cleaned up and ready to go. I rode that a lot. |
| What inspired you to start riding a Harley – or who got you into it? |
It was American-made, of course. I've always tried to stay American-made whether it's all my personal cars or anything else -- I always try to buy American.
And of course, Harley's been around and has a lot of history. After you buy one, you kind of get into the history of it, and when I followed that history, I wanted to be a part of it, really. |
| Which Harley-Davidson model(s) do you currently own? |
| I have two, right now: a Heritage Softail, which I really enjoy riding on short runs; and an Ultra Classic, which is for the long roads. |
| What attracted you to Harley models then? What keeps you in the saddle today? |
| Two things I enjoy: Getting away where I can clear my head, and riding where I can see and feel the outdoors... |
