| DOVER, Del. -- Unsponsored and undaunted, Scott Wimmer won his first Busch Series race at Dover International Speedway in the MBNA All-American Heroes 200 on Saturday.
Wimmer, who achieved his best-career finish of second at Bristol last month, took the No. 23 Bill Davis Racing Pontiac into the top spot after a yellow-flag pit stop on lap 140.
Wimmer took the checkered flag under caution when a wreck involving Bobby Hamilton Jr. and Mark Green occurred with two laps remaining.
Wimmer started 26th and led 60 laps. He said the car wasn't capable of winning until that final stop.
"It really wasn't until that last pit stop that the car came to me," Wimmer said. "The boys gave me a great stop. The car, at the beginning, wasn't that good and we made our way up pretty good.
