| BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Matt Kenseth showed the proper way to make a pass for the lead, cleanly driving by Kevin Harvick with 15 laps to go Friday night to win the Busch Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Kenseth was flagged for speeding on pit road earlier in the race, forcing him to drop to the back of the field and work his way toward the front over the 250 laps. Harvick, who started 30th after a poor qualifying effort, was leading the race when Kenseth got to the front. His first few attempts to grab the lead were thwarted by ill-timed cautions, but he finally got a long enough run to make his move shortly after a restart. Harvick had a terrific jump after the 12th caution and briefly pulled away from Kenseth, but he didn't get far. Kenseth needed just two laps to overtake him on an aggressive -- but clean -- pass that should set the example on the correct way to get by another driver. Kenseth tried several times to make the pass, with Harvick closing him off each time, until Kenseth committed to the high side of the track going into the third turn. He was side-by-side with Harvick as they came out of the turn and went in and out of four. Both cars were bouncing off each other as they raced down the backstretch, and Kenseth finally broke free as they crossed the start/finish line with 15 laps to go. More |
