Overview

A driver is eliminated when the maximum number of points he can accumulate by race 26 is less than either what it would require to get into the top 10 or stay within 400 points of the leader. A driver can clinch when the minimum number of points he can accumulate by race 26 is still greater than either what it would require to remain in the top 10 or stay within 400 points of the leader. A driver can clinch a spot in the Chase for the Nextel Cup if his finish per race by race 26 is equal to or better than the position reflected below. All projected scenarios for "clinch" and "elimination" assume a driver will start all remaining races.
