Standings
2006 Unofficial Driver Standings
Overview
Immediately following each race, NASCAR.com combines the points earned from the order of finish shown on Live Leaderboard with the previous week's standings to compile the Unofficial Driver Standings. A driver is eliminated when the maximum number of points he can accumulate by race 26 is less than either what it would require to get into the top 10 or stay within 400 points of the leader. A driver can clinch when the minimum number of points he can accumulate by race 26 is still greater than either what it would require to remain in the top 10 or stay within 400 points of the leader. All projected scenarios for "clinch" and "elimination" assume a driver will start all remaining races.
