1921: Two-time Indy 500 winner Rodger Ward is born on this day. Ward, winner of the 1959 and 1962 Indy 500s, started three Cup races in the 1960s. His best finish was 27th, which he did twice -- in a qualifying race for the 1963 Daytona 500 and at Atlanta a month later. Ward, who died in 2004, also won the USAC championships in '59 and '62.
