1959: Curtis Turner wins the last of his record 38 races in NASCAR's short-lived Convertible Division, which runs from 1956 to 1959. The win comes in the Catawba 250 at Hickory (N.C.) Speedway, a four-tenths mile dirt track. The race goes 251 laps because of a scoring error, and Turner is alone on the lead lap, 16 seconds in front of second-place Junior Johnson.
