Lap 200 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Kevin Harvick comes out of nowhere and catches Jimmie Johnson at the end to win the Auto Club 400. One of the best closers in the sport becomes the fifth different Cup winner of 2011.

Lap 199 -- WHITE FLAG: Jimmie Johnson has the lead; Kyle Busch is right there with the No. 48. Kevin Harvick takes second after Busch brushes the wall.

Lap 198 -- Jimmie Johnson goes low; Kyle Busch takes the high side. Johnson catches the No. 18.

Lap 197 -- Jimmie Johnson is on the bumper of Kyle Busch and is picking his line to make a move.

Lap 195 -- Kevin Harvick is fast and closing in fourth.

Lap 194 -- Juan Montoya moves into 10th. Kasey Kahne moves into fifth.

Lap 193 -- Tony Stewart falls off the pace back to 11th. Ryan Newman moves into third.

Lap 192 -- Jimmie Johnson goes low but the No. 18 is too fast on the outside.

Lap 191 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch leads the field to green with Jimmie Johnson on the front row. Tony Stewart restarts third. Seventh place was the first car to come to pit road and took two tires. Carl Edwards stays out and now claims the seventh spot.

Lap 190 -- Pit road is open. The leaders stay out. Matt Kenseth leads others down pit road.

Lap 189 -- As it stands now, Kyle Busch leads and is followed by Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick.

Lap 188 -- Bobby Labonte's car catches fire so he's waiting on the wrecker. This forces pit road to remain closed and may affect pit road decisions of the leaders.

Lap 187 -- Twenty-four cars remain on the lead lap as pit stop decisions become critical at this point. Kurt Busch gets the free pass. Pit road is closed.

Lap 186 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Bobby Labonte slams into the Turn 2 wall.

Lap 185 -- Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson are separating themselves from the field. Less than a second separates the two drivers.

Lap 184 -- Kyle Busch has led 136 laps today.

Lap 183 -- Jimmie Johnson is closing on Kyle Busch.

Lap 182 -- Jimmie Johnson makes the pass in Turn 1. Ryan Newman is in fifth and on the move.

Lap 181 - Jimmie Johnson goes low and tries to make the pass on Tony Stewart but the No. 14 holds fast on the high side.

Lap 180 -- Jimmie Johnson is dialed in and turning the fastest laps on the track.

Lap 179 -- Kyle Busch can't break free from Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson. Trevor bayne is forced to the outside and hits the wall. No yellow.

Lap 178 -- Dale Junior moves into 12th. Ryan Newman passes Kevin Harvick for fourth.

Lap 177 -- Tony Stewart is eight to 10 laps to the good on fuel.

Lap 176 -- Four wide into Turn 1, Kyle Busch is fast but Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson are right there with the No. 18.

Lap 175 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch leads the field to green followed by Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer.

Lap 173 -- Landon Cassill gets the free pass.

Lap 172 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Andy Lally spins the No. 71.

Lap 170 -- Kyle Busch stretches his lead ahead of Tony Stewart after another strong pit stop. Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick are doing battle for third.

Lap 169 -- Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart pit together. Busch takes four tires and says the car is tight, call for a chassis adjustment. jimmie Johnson takes tires and fuel. The No. 48 is free and fast. Jeff Gordon takes tires, fuel and is off.

Lap 168 -- As the track continues to cool, drivers start to pit. Dale Junior gets tires and fuel. Juan Montoya is tight and calls for an air adjustment. Brian Vickers is in for tires and fuel.

Lap 167 -- Matt Kenseth is in sixth and holding off Greg Biffle for the spot. Kenseth pits for tires and fuel.

Lap 166 -- Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch are the fastest cars on the track at this point.

Lap 165 -- Kyle Busch has Landon Cassill to pass and then he'll have clean air for a bit as the No. 18 works through the final bits of lapped traffic.

Lap 163 -- The top five are spaced fairly evenly and no one seems to be making a move on Kyle Busch as the field approaches final pit stops.

Lap 160 -- Andy Lally goes three laps down.

Lap 157 -- Clint Bowyer and Ryan Newman do battle for eighth.

Lap 156 -- Landon Cassill is in danger of going down two laps.

Lap 155 -- Tony Stewart is closing the gap on Kyle Busch but has a ways to go. Kurt Busch goes a lap down.

Lap 152 -- Dale Junior moves into 14th. He'll need a caution to bunch the field back up as more than 25 seconds separate the No. 88 and Kyle Busch out front.

Lap 150 -- With 25 laps to go, Kyle Busch isn't showing any signs of slowing down. Greg Biffle rounds out the top 10; Jimmie Johnson moves up a spot to fourth.

Lap 148 -- Twenty-four cars remain on the lead lap. Final pit stops should come around Lap 170.

Lap 146 -- After cycling through pit stops, Kyle Busch made his quick pit time work for him and is holding onto a 5.6-second lead ahead of Tony Stewart and the rest of the field.

Lap 143 -- Jimmie Johnson holds onto fifth as Brian Vickers holds him off for fourth.

Lap 142 -- Kyle Busch has a huge lead as Tony Stewart, in second, has more than 6.3 seconds to make up.

Lap 141 -- Paul Menard is in and takes four tires. He says the car is a little tight.

Lap 140 -- Tony Stewart is in for a chassis adjustment. Kevin Harvick takes four tires.

Lap 138 -- Brian Vickers pits for fuel. Kyle Busch is snug but takes four tires and he's off.

Lap 137 -- Paul Menard has been able to stay in the top 10 during this long run and it looks like the No. 27 team's decision to take just two tires on thier last pit stop is paying off.

Lap 132 -- Kyle Busch had led the most laps as Greg Biffle becomes the biggest mover.

Lap 125 -- Paul Menard moves to ninth.

Lap 124 -- Denny Hamlin is disappointed and in the garage with a sick car.

Lap 123 -- Martin Truex Jr. gets back two spots to 13th.

Lap 122 -- Kyle Busch remains the one to beat.

Lap 121 -- Clint Bowyer moves to seventh.

Lap 120 -- Martin Truex Jr. has fallen off the pace and is running in 15th.

Lap 119 -- Kevin Harvick moves into fifth. Dale Junior moves into 16th.

Lap 118 -- Greg Biffle moves into 11th, up 22 spots since the start of the race.

Lap 117 -- Juan Montoya drops to 11th as Paul Menard takes ninth and Carl Edwards rounds out the top 10.

Lap 116 -- Tony Stewart is on the bumper of Kyle Busch and wants the lead. So far, the No. 18 is holding him off.

Lap 115 -- Jimmie Johnson is on the move and into eighth.

Lap 114 -- Paul Menard moves into 10th and is doing battle with Juan Montoya for ninth.

Lap 113 -- Kyle Busch holds off Tony Stewart and maintains the lead.

Lap 112 -- Kurt Busch brushes the wall.

Lap 111 -- Ryan Newman races into third, passing Brian Vickers.

Lap 110 -- Paul Menard slides up to 11th.

Lap 109 -- Kyle Busch remains strong on the restarts and holds the lead as Tony Stewart slides into second.

Lap 108 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers are on the front row as they lead the field back to green.

Lap 107 -- Paul Menard is back into 15th, up one spot after making his trip to pit road. Jimmie Johnson continues to struggle with time on pit road.

Lap 106 -- Mark Martin will round out the top 10 at green. Regan Smith is now back on the lead lap.

Lap 105 -- Kyle Busch is out front, followed by Brian Vickers, Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart.

Lap 104 -- Most of the field pits. Brian Vickers gets a minor adjustment. Tony Stewart calls for a small air pressure adjustment. Kyle Busch takes air out of the right side. He wants the No. 18 to turn better. Busch wins the race off pit road.

Lap 103 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Tony Stewart gets the yellow he wanted as David Gilliland hits the wall. Twenty-six cars remain on the lead lap.

Lap 102 -- Jimmie Johnson holds off Kevin Harvick for fifth.

Lap 101 -- Paul Menard drops back to 16th.

Lap 100 -- Not much change to the top-10 as Kyle Busch remains in the lead.

Lap 99 -- Kyle Busch holds the lead but Tony Stewart is falling off the pace.

Lap 98 -- Greg Biffle becomes the biggest mover, up 19 positions into 14th since the start of the race.

Lap 97 -- Pole-sitter Juan Montoya moves into 10th.

Lap 96 -- Jimmie Johnson is in fifth and holding off teammate Mark Martin for the spot.

Lap 95 -- Clint Bowyer rounds out the top 10. Jeff Gordon is in 13th but struggling in the turns.

Lap 94 -- Denny Hamlin's crew is prepared to switch out the ignition switch as they pinpoint the problem with the No. 11.

Lap 93 -- Kyle Busch takes the lead as teammate Denny Hamlin and team continue to troubleshoot their engine problems over the radio.

Lap 92 -- Jimmie Johnson is finding his groove and has joined the part in fourth. Tony Stewart loves the No. 14 and is giddy on the radio. He's proud for making the call to stay out on the last pit stop. he'll next a caution to get back in sync with the rest of the field.

Lap 91 -- Denny Hamlin is in 27th and remains the last car on the lead lap.

Lap 90 -- Kyle Busch takes back second as both he and Tony Stewart race side by side.

Lap 89 -- Tony Stewart isn't going anywhere and slides past Kyle Busch for second. Then Stewart blows by Ryan Newman and takes the lead.

Lap 88 -- Kyle Busch is on the bumper of Ryan Newman but can't take the lead.

Lap 87 -- Mark martin took just two tires during the last pit stop and has gained a few spots, up to fourth.

Lap 86 -- Denny Hamlin is on the radio and reading the gauges to his crew.

Lap 85 -- Paul Menard is on the move and into 10th.

Lap 84 -- Denny Hamlin says the engine may be blowing up. Something is wrong.

Lap 83 -- Ryan Newman holds off Kyle Busch for the lead but the No. 18 isn't going anywhere.

Lap 82 -- Brian Vickers still likes the high line and powers the No. 83 back into eighth.

Lap 81 -- Ryan Newman gets the jump and takes the lead. Kyle Busch slides into second as Tony Stewart falls back to third.

Lap 80 -- GREEN FLAG: Tony Stewart leads the field back to green.

Lap 79 -- Twenty-seven cars remain on the lead lap. All but Tony Stewart pitted.

Lap 78 -- Tony Stewart will lead the field to green, followed by Ryan Newman, Mark Martin and Kyle Busch.

Lap 77 -- Tony Stewart leads after staying out. Ryan Newman wins the race off pit road and claims second.

Lap 76 -- Brian Vickers is on pit road and overshoots his stall. Martin Truex Jr says he's in love with the car. Kyle Busch slides to a stop and takes fuel.

Lap 75 -- The field bunches up and several will head back to pit road for fuel and possible tires. Regan Smith gets the free pass.

Lap 75 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 1: Debris in Turn 3. Jeff Burton is more than happy to see the yellow as he was in danger of going a lap down after having to serve a penalty for speeding.

Lap 74 -- Kevin Harvick moves into eighth. Greg Biffle is up 17 spots and into 15th.

Lap 73 -- Kyle Busch is ahead and out front of Martin Truex Jr. by more than 6.5 seconds.

Lap 72 -- Ryan Newman moves into 10th.

Lap 71 -- Tony Stewart says small adjustments are making the car better. The No. 14 takes tires, fuel and is away. Kyle Busch takes back the lead. Jeff Burton is penalized for speeding on pit road.

Lap 70 -- Martin Truex Jr. is on pit road and says the car is a tad loose but doesn't want changes. Tony Stewart leads after staying out but he'll give that up when he pits next lap.

Lap 69 -- Denny Hamlin says previous changes were too much. Kyle Busch gets a small air adjustment and is off.

Lap 68 -- Martin Truex Jr. stays out to take the lead. Most of the field pits.

Lap 67 -- Another round of green-flag pit stops are coming up as the race sets a record for longest green-flag run. Greg Biffle is on pit road and hates the car. He calls for a chassis adjustment and fuel. Kyle Busch is coming to pit road.

Lap 66 -- A.J. Allmendinger heads to pit road. He can't find any grip and wants to make a change.

Lap 65 -- Denny Hamlin -- at 181 mph -- has the fastest lap of the race.

Lap 64 -- Clint Bowyer drops to seventh.

Lap 63 -- Brian Vickers and Tony Stewart continue to battle for position as they trade the fourth and fifth spots.

Lap 62 -- Tony Stewart moves into fourth then gives it back to Brian Vickers.

Lap 61 -- Kyle Busch shows no signs of slowing down and maintains a considerable lead ahead of Martin Truex Jr. Juan Montoya is in eighth.

Lap 60 -- Kyle Busch calls off a track bar adjustment on the next pit stop and says the car is a bit snug around the track.

Lap 59 -- Paul Menard has dropped six spots since first green and is running in 2st.

Lap 58 -- Kevin Harvick gets past Carl Edwards for tenth.

Lap 57 -- Kyle Busch leads the field by 4.691 seconds.

Lap 56 -- Brian Vickers does battle with Denny Hamlin for third.

Lap 55 -- Kevin Harvick moves into 11th. Carl Edwards is in 10th.

Lap 54 -- Martin Truex Jr. takes away second from Denny Hamlin.

Lap 53 -- Thirty cars remain on the lead lap. Robby Gordon is the first car a lap down.

Lap 52 -- Tony Stewart passes Clint Bowyer for fifth.

Lap 51 -- Juan Montoya drops to eighth.

Lap 50 -- More than 15 seconds separate Kyle Busch -- out front -- and Matt Kenseth in 10th.

Lap 49 -- Martin Truex Jr. remains the biggest mover, up 22 spots and into fourth.

Lap 48 -- Kyle Busch continues to show the way, out front now by 4.8 seconds.

Lap 47 -- Dale Junior is making his 400th consecutive start today and is holding onto 19th. The No. 88 team has an injured pit crew member after an accident during their first pit stop. Time will tell if that effects their pit times.

Lap 46 -- Martin Truex Jr. holds off Jeff Burton for fifth.

Lap 45 -- Kyle Busch increases his lead ahead of Denny Hamlin.

Lap 44 -- No change to the top 10 as Carl Edwards does battle for mark Martin for 10th.

Lap 43 -- Kyle Busch is on the move, 2.6 seconds ahead of Denny Hamlin.

Lap 42 -- Dale Junior moves into 19th.

Lap 41 -- The front four are driving Toyotas: Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Brian Vickers and Martin Truex Jr.

Lap 40 -- Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin have separated themselves from the field. Brian Vickers remains more than 5 seconds behind, in third.

Lap 39 -- Teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon are running 16-17 after slow pit stops.

Lap 38 -- Mark Martin rounds out the top 10. Martin Truex Jr. is in fifth.

Lap 37 -- J.J. Yeley pits and Kyle Busch claims clean air out front. He's being chased by teammate Denny Hamlin, then Brian Vickers, in third.

Lap 36 -- Jimmie Johnson is on pit road and getting a chassis adjustment, four tires and fuel. J.J. Yeley is credited with the lead.

Lap 35 -- Jimmie Johnson stays out and takes the lead. J.J. Yeley finds second. Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin are back near the front and are running 2-3.

Lap 34 -- Juan Montoya pits, takes tires and Clint Bowyer stays out to take the lead.

Lap 33 -- Juan Montoya takes the lead as Kyle Busch heads to pit road for four tires. Denny Hamlin pits and takes four tires as well. Busch beats Hamlin off pit road. Matt Kenseth is in for four tires and fuel.

Lap 32 -- No change to the top 10 this lap. Mark Martin is in 11th and looking to join the party.

Lap 31 -- Brian Vickers has his eyes set on fourth and the bumper of Jeff Burton.

Lap 30 -- Juan Montoya holds off Jeff Burton for third.

Lap 29 -- Kyle Busch continues to lead.

Lap 28 -- Kyle Busch opens up a small lead ahead of Denny Hamlin. Juan Montoya, in third, is 1.3 seconds behind the leader.

Lap 27 -- Brian Vickers remains on the move, up to fifth after starting 19th. The No. 83 likes the high side of the track.

Lap 26 -- Three-tenths of a second separate Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin out front.

Lap 25 -- Jimmie Johnson drops to 13th. Denny Hamlin does battle with Kyle Busch for the lead.

Lap 24 -- Mark Martin drops to 12th after starting 10th.

Lap 23 -- Kyle Busch gets credit for leading the lap after edging past teammate Denny Hamlin.

Lap 22 -- Martin Truex Jr. is on the move, cracking the top 10 and passing Tony Stewart for ninth.

Lap 21 -- Todd Bodine takes the No. 60 to the garage.

Lap 20 -- Kyle Busch passes Denny Hamlin then falls back.

Lap 19 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. moves into 17th after starting 30th.

Lap 18 -- Martin Truex Jr. is the biggest mover, up 13 spots to 13th.

Lap 17 -- Matt Kenseth holds onto fifth, It's been two years since he visited Victory Lane.

Lap 16 -- Jeff Burton takes third from Juan Montoya, then gives it back on the backstretch.

Lap 15 -- Denny Hamlin opens up a 1.5-second lead of Kyle Busch.

Lap 14 -- Brian Vickers is gaining spots rapidly, up to seventh after starting 19th.

Lap 13 -- Tony Stewart moves into 10th as Carl Edwards takes ninth.

Lap 12 -- Kyle Busch takes away second from Juan Montoya.

Lap 11 -- Carl Edwards moves into 10th, up eight spots since the start of the Auto Club 400.

Lap 10 -- Kyle Busch wants to take second from juan Montoya and makes a run down low but Montoya holds off the No. 18.

Lap 9 -- Denny Hamlin maintains the lead. Clint Bowyer races into sixth and is chasing Jeff Burton, in fifth.

Lap 8 -- Juan Montoya holds onto fourth as Kyle Busch does battle for the spot. A distant fourth is Matt Kenseth.

Lap 7 -- Jimmie Johnson is on the move, up seven spots and into ninth. Denny Hamlin passes Juan Montoya for the lead.

Lap 6 -- Denny Hamlin challenges for the lead on the backstretch. Montoya goes high, Hamlin moves down low.

Lap 5 -- Clint Bowyer is up seven spots and into 10th. Matt Kenseth moves into fifth.

Lap 4 -- Denny Hamlin holds onto second as Kyle Busch settles in behind the No. 11.

Lap 3 - David Ragan moves up two spots to fourth. Kyle Busch Moves into third.

Lap 2 -- Kyle Busch cracks the top five, up three spots.

Lap 1 -- Juan Montoya leads the first lap. In 21 Cup Series races at Auto Club, the driver who led the first lap has never gone on to win the race.

3:18 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Juan Montoya leads the field to green and the Auto Club 400 is under way.

3:12 p.m. -- The cars are off pit road for warm-up laps.

3:08 p.m. -- Actor Christian Slater gives the command: "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

3:01 p.m. -- Richard Marx performs the national anthem.

3 p.m. -- Motor Racing Outreach's Jeff Hamilton gives today's invocation.

2:30 p.m. ET -- Pre-race coverage of the Auto Club 500 is under way on FOX.

2:15 p.m. ET -- Drivers and spectators woke up in Fontana on Sunday to cloudy skies and a temperature of 56 degrees. Temperatures are expected to hold steady during the race and with less than a 20 percent chance of rain, weather shouldn't be a huge factor for the Auto Club 400. Green is scheduled for 3:16 p.m. with Juan Montoya on the pole.
