1996: Hermie Sadler makes his first Cup start and finishes 37th in the Miller 500 at Dover. Sadler would not make another Cup start until 2001 and has made 61 starts during nine seasons. Sadler made his first Nationwide start in 1992 and has two wins in 259 starts. On this day, Sadler completes 349 of 500 laps before he loses the handling on the car. Jeff Gordon wins, with Terry Labonte second and Dale Earnhardt third.
