1965: Newly named NASCAR Hall of Famer Cale Yarborough wins his first Cup race, a 200-lap feature at Valdosta (Ga.) Speedway. Yarborough wins big on the half-mile dirt track, beating second-place J.T. Putney by more than three laps. G.C. Spencer is third in the 21-car field, four laps back. The win comes in Yarborough's 80th start. He will finish his career with 83 wins in 560 starts.
