1973: Dick Brooks wins the Talladega 500, his only victory in the Cup Series in 358 starts. Brooks wins by 7.2 seconds over Buddy Baker, and David Pearson is third. Fifty cars start the race, and 26 are running at the finish. Brooks raced in the Cup series from 1969 to 1985 and finished in the top five 57 times and the top 10 150 times. His best points finish was sixth in 1977.
