Stenhouse Jr. hits the links for Easter, looks ahead to resumption of racing

I hope everyone had a great Easter holiday. I stayed in North Carolina and attended church with some of my friends, and afterwards we grabbed some lunch and enjoyed the beautiful spring day.

Last Friday, Roush Fenway Racing held an employee golf outing at Rocky River Golf Course. It was a shotgun-style tournament with a few other competitions on three different holes. An "Outdrive the Driver" competition was held on the first hole, so I went first and everyone else had to hit their drive farther than mine. Well, I sliced my drive so needless to say I got beat. Maybe I should have warmed up at the driving range before I took to the tee.

"After two weeks off, I am ready to get back racing. I don't think I can get to Texas fast enough. "

Justin Edgell, the rear-tire carrier for the No. 16, was the big winner of that contest and walked away with a brand new TV. I like to think that his shirt brought him luck because he wore the exact same bright yellow golf shirt as me.

No, we didn't plan it.

It was great to see 80 RFR employees come out for the event. Roush Fenway is such a big organization that it is hard to know everyone; this was a great way to meet some of the individuals that work in our shops. My foursome finished one-under par, which wasn't too shabby, but the winning team shot a 63. I know some of the guys on that team, and I've got to question their mathematical skills.

The winners were not the only ones that received an award, as the last-place team also received a plaque. I won't mention any names on that crew.

Tomorrow, I am traveling up to Montreal for their media day on Wednesday to help them promote their August 18th Nationwide Series race (at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve). We are also going to one of Montreal's "sugar shacks" to taste some of their famous maple syrup. CGV is an amazing track. Even though I struggle on road courses, I always look forward going there. From Montreal we are flying straight to Dallas/Fort Worth for the race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

We have numerous media hits lined up Thursday showcasing our No. 6 car for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 on Friday night. Our sponsor, Pure Michigan, is holding a contest where a lucky winner can win a custom-made Pure Michigan Roush Mustang. The two first-place finalist will win a trip to the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway on August 19th, where one of those two finalists will drive away in the car. I have seen a couple of pictures of the Mustang and it is a sweet ride. I look forward to taking it for a spin when we are in Texas.

After two weeks off, I am ready to get back racing. I don't think I can get to Texas fast enough. Last year, we had a strong performance at Texas Motor Speedway with two top-10 finishes, so I feel confident that we can get a top-five or a win this year. I need a new cowboy hat to add to my collection. Texas is a fast, fun race track and the fans are so enthusiastic.

We are bringing a chassis that has a strong history. Carl (Edwards) ran this chassis last year at Phoenix and finished third. The guys have been working really hard over the past two weeks getting this Ford Mustang ready to go. Roush Fenway, as an organization, has a strong mile-and-a-half program so we will take all that information and hopefully leave there with a win.

On another note, my sprint car team won two straight races which makes three for the year so far. Jason Johnson and the entire team have done a great job with the team and we feel strongly that we can get some more wins this season. But, for now, it's all about Texas.
