1918: Stock-car racing pioneer Bob Flock is born. The oldest of the racing Flock brothers -- with Fonty and Tim -- started on the pole position in the very first NASCAR Strictly Stock (now Sprint Cup) race and won twice in NASCAR's first season in 1949.
