Today in History: October 14

October 14, 2012, NASCAR Wire Service,

1951: In a scheduling quirk that will likely never be repeated, three races in NASCAR's premier series are run on the same day. Frank Mundy leads 114 of 200 laps and outruns Lee Petty to win at Martinsville Speedway. Tim Flock leads every lap in the only race for the series at Pine Grove Speedway's half-mile dirt track in Shippenville, Pa. Marvin Burke wins in his only start in the series, leading 156 of 400 laps at the .625-mile Oakland (Calif.) Stadium dirt track.
