1962: Jim Paschal inherits the lead when Glen Wood's engine fails with 27 laps left and goes on to win the Turkey Day 200 at Tar Heel Speedway in Randleman, N.C. Wood, a 2012 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, started from the pole position and led the first 173 of 200 laps on the quarter-mile asphalt track. Paschal drove past and finished with a two-lap margin of victory over runner-up Joe Weatherly to land the 15th of his 25 wins in NASCAR's premier series. Tommy Irwin, David Pearson and Maurice Petty completed the top five.
