Is Lance Stephenson riding along with Dale Jr?

No. 88 driver feels a draft from the backseat at Indianapolis

An incident during Friday's first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice at Indianapolis Motor Speedway made us wonder if former Indiana Pacers guard Lance Stephenson, now of the Charlotte Hornets, was in Dale Earnhardt Jr's backseat.

As cars hit the track to prepare for the Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, ESPN), Earnhardt Jr. reported on his radio that air was blowing on his right elbow in his No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet.

During Game 5 of the NBA's Eastern Conference Final, then-Pacer Stephenson infamously blew in the ear of LeBron James in an attempt to distract the then-Miami Heat forward.

Since Earnhardt is an avid Hornets fan, could Stephenson have stowed away on the Hendrick Motorsports hauler to get a ride back to Indy?

Following practice, Earnhardt Jr. did tweet about his frustration with the car getting into turns.

He later clarified his comments to say he's in the same boat as most of his competitors.

Follow final practice (Saturday, 9 a.m. ET, ESPN2) and watch's Press Pass (Saturday at 11:45 p.m. ET) to see if this situation was "blown out of proportion" and the air issue has been resolved.
