It's time to teach you a few tidbits about legendary Darlington Raceway that you might not know.

When track founder and retired racer Harold Brasington purchased the land for Darlington Raceway from farmer Sherman Ramsey, it came with a strange stipulation. Brasington had to agree not to touch the minnow pond on the west side of the track. The result is one end of the track being way tighter than the other. So drivers, when you're screaming bloody murder over the radio because you can't get the car to work on both ends of the track, just think of the happy minnows. That will help.

The 2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 produced this nail-biting, fender-banging finish that gave Ricky Craven the win over Kurt Busch by, get this, .002 seconds. The other track that produced a .002-second margin of victory? Talladega in 2011. Just to give you an idea what a small margin that is, it's maybe the width of this paragraph, give or take.

In 1965, Ned Jarrett won at Darlington with a margin of 14 laps and two car lengths. Really glad he threw those two extra car lengths in there. How big a margin of victory is this? It happened in 1965 and there are still cars that haven't finished yet.

That's the way it was until 1997, when the track was reconfigured and the respective straightaways were swapped. Think it's confusing when a driver changes car numbers? Imagine Turns 1 and 2 suddenly having to remember they're now Turns 3 and 4.

It's the aptly named, "Darlington County," which appeared on 1984's "Born In The U.S.A." album. It's not about the track itself. Rather, it's about two working class city boys who drive down there looking for work, but instead find trouble. Just saying "Darlington County" would make for a wonderful parody, "Weird Al' Yankovic.

When you think of Furniture Row Racing, you probably think of Martin Truex Jr., Cole Pearn and their dominant 2017 season. But it was actually Regan Smith who sent it to Victory Lane for the first time. It was at Darlington in 2011, which is coincidentally the only car number he hasn't run.

According to the Internet Movie Database, Tom got busted there in 1990 while filming scenes for "Days Of Thunder." Sure, that's way over the speed limit, but it's like these police officers have never heard of a little thing called method acting.
