Sprint Cup Series practice 2 | Results

Richard Childress Racing driver Paul Menard led Saturday's Sprint Cup Series practice for the MyAFibStory.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.

Menard posted a speed of 188.772 mph on his first lap, putting him at the top of the leaderboard.

In seven starts at the Windy City track Menard has earned one top-10 (2010).

Second-fastest was Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup contender Kasey Kahne (187.780 mph).

Kevin Harvick (187.709 mph), Jeff Gordon (187.624 mph) and Carl Edwards (187.370 mph) rounded out the top-five fastest. All three drivers are also in the running for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender Kyle Larson will run Sunday's race in his backup car after his left-front tire blew, putting him into the wall early in the session. Larson finished the practice 14th-fastest in the field with his highest speed of 186.239 mph.

Kyle Busch, who led yesterday's practice, couldn't seem to find speed today and came in at 19th-fastest (185.918 mph).

Defending race winner Matt Kenseth came in as 24th-fastest (185.688 mph). Kenseth remains winless this season as he continues his hunt for victory in the Chase field.

Marcos Ambrose, whose Richard Petty Motorsports team announced today that he will not be returning to NASCAR in 2015, posted a speed of 184.742 mph putting him as 28th-fastest.

Sprint Cup Series practice 3 | Results

In preparation for the first Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race of 2014, Carl Edwards topped the leaderboard as the fastest driver in the final Sprint Cup Series practice at Chicagoland Speedway. 

Edwards posted a speed of 186.413 mph on his first lap. Edwards will line up third in tomorrow's MyAFibStory.com 400.

Top Chase seed Brad Keselowski ended Saturday's final practice as second-fastest. Keselowski will start tomorrow's race 25th in the field.

Although Kyle Larson had a rough start in today's earlier practice after he blew his left-front tire and smacked the wall, the rookie came in as third-fastest in the final session (185.918 mph) in his backup ride.

Jimmie Johnson (185.835 mph) and Danica Patrick (185.618 mph) rounded out the top-five fastest drivers.

Paul Menard, who led practice earlier today, ran a 185.147-mph lap and finished practice 10th-fastest.

Starting on the pole for Sunday's race, Kyle Busch came in as 15th-fastest (184.679 mph). Busch won the pole yesterday after qualifying was rained out and officials based the field off yesterday's practice times. 

The MyAFibStory.com 400 will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. ET with TV coverage on ESPN.
