Irregularity found in pre-qualifying inspection of No. 17 Sprint Cup car

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – NASCAR officials confiscated rear-end suspension parts from the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Officials said the questionable parts were taken during pre-qualifying inspection. Any penalties, should they be forthcoming, would likely be announced next week.
Driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. qualified 22nd for Sunday's Ford EcoBoost 400 (ESPN, 3 p.m. ET). It is the 36th and final race of the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.
Sunday's race is the 10th event in this year's Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, with Championship 4 contenders Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and Ryan Newman competing for the series title.
Four-time champion Jeff Gordon will start on the Coors Light Pole.
