The spring race at Talladega Superspeedway will be named the GEICO 500, the track announced on Thursday afternoon. The race will be held on May 3 at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
The GEICO 500 was the name of the fall Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the Alabama track last season. Aaron's had been the sponsor of the spring race since 2002.
The GEICO 500 will be the main event of a weekend that will also include the NASCAR XFINITY Series Winn-Dixie 300 on Saturday, May 2. Coors Light Pole Qualifying for the XFINITY Series and the Sprint Cup Series will be held before the race starting at 11:15 a.m. ET.
"GEICO is an incredible partner which continues to show their support of our facility with tremendous activation to promote both the GEICO 500 and Talladega Superspeedway. We can't wait for the first weekend in May!" Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch said in a release.
Denny Hamlin won the spring race last season as his way to punch his ticket into the 16-driver Chase field.
