Larson, the series points leader, secured a lap of 188.186 mph in the Chip Ganassi Racing No. 42 Chevrolet on the 1.5-mile track. The 85-minute session was the final prep before Saturday's Quaker State 400 Presented by Advance Auto Parts (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). "I thought in race trim we were pretty good. Then we switched to qualifying trim and we were really fast," said Larson, a two-time Monster Energy Series winner this season. "I was happy with the Target Chevy and hopefully, I guess it doesn’t really matter if qualifying rains out or not because we will be on the pole if it rains out. If we get to qualify, I still think we will qualify well. We will see." Martin Truex Jr. landed the second-fastest lap, guiding the Furniture Row Racing No. 78 Toyota to a speed of 187.188 mph. Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney and two-time Kentucky winner Kyle Busch rounded out the top five. Darrell Wallace Jr. clocked the ninth-fastest lap in the Richard Petty Motorsports No. 43 Ford. Saturday's 400-mile is set to be his fourth start in place of the injured Aric Almirola, sidelined with a broken back after a May 13 crash at Kansas Speedway. Brad Keselowski, a three-time Kentucky winner, was 15th-fastest in the Team Penske No. 2 Ford. A number of penalty holds were enforced in the 85-minute session.
