Ross Chastain finishes seventh at Road America

Ross Chastain finished seventh in the Henry 180 at Road America on Saturday. The top-10 finish for Chastain, his 15th of the year, added 46 points to his season total. Chastain now ranks third in the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings with 708 points. A total of 12 drivers make the postseason cut. Chastain started in 11th position. The seventh-year driver has secured two career victories, with 13 top-five finishes and 35 results inside the top 10. The seventh-place result on Saturday was the first time Chastain has cracked the top 10 at Road America. The Alva, Florida native's starting and finishing positions compared favorably to his career averages, starting seven spots higher than his career mark of 17.9 and completing the race 10 places ahead of his 16.6 career average finish. Chastain battled against a field of 37 drivers on the way to his seventh-place finish. The race endured seven cautions and 15 caution laps. Prior to the checkered flag there were 13 lead changes. Austin Cindric took the checkered flag in the race, and AJ Allmendinger finished second. Chase Briscoe placed third, Kaz Grala brought home fourth, and Andy Lally grabbed the No. 5 spot.
