Chris Buescher drives No. 17 Ford Mustang to ninth-place finish at Daytona International Speedway

Chris Buescher finished ninth in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday. The top-10 finish for Buescher, his sixth of the year, added 28 points to his season total. Buescher now sits at No. 21 in the NASCAR Cup Series standings with 477 points. A total of 16 drivers make the playoffs. Buescher started in 17th position. The sixth-year driver has one career victory, with six top-five finishes and 17 results inside the top 10. In his career at Daytona International Speedway, Buescher has compiled three top-five finishes and his ninth-place result marks the fourth top-10. The Prosper, Texas native's starting and finishing positions compared favorably to his career averages, starting eight spots higher than his career mark of 24.7 and completing the race 13 places ahead of his 22 career average finish. Buescher took on a field of 40 drivers on the way to his ninth-place finish. The race endured six cautions and 21 caution laps. There were 35 lead changes. William Byron secured the victory in the race, and Chase Elliott took second. Denny Hamlin placed third, Martin Truex Jr took fourth, and Bubba Wallace rounded out the top five.
