NASCAR issues L1 penalties to three Xfinity Series teams post-Daytona

NASCAR officials handed down L1-level penalties to three Xfinity Series teams Wednesday for unapproved body-panel modifications discovered during last weekend's events at Daytona International Speedway. RELATED: Xfinity Series schedule Competition officials discovered the infractions in pre-race inspection before Friday night's Wawa 250, citing Sections 14.4.A and 14.4.11 C&D in the NASCAR Rule Book. Those sections address the body and rear bumper cover extensions for superspeedway events. The offending teams were: Each driver and team were docked 20 overall points and five playoff points in their respective standings. The respective crew chiefs for each team were also fined $25,000. The Xfinity Series' next race is the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW Help a Hero 200, scheduled Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, USA, NBC Sports App, MRN, SiriusXM) at Darlington Raceway.
