At last! Ryan Sieg earns first O’Reilly Series win in 424th start at Daytona

In his 424th career O'Reilly Auto Parts Series start, Ryan Sieg held off Daytona International Speedway ace Austin Hill to win for the first time in NASCAR's second-highest level. Sieg prevailed in overtime, driving the No. 38 Chevrolet for family-owned RSS Racing, crossing the line o.149 seconds ahead of Hill. RELATED: Unofficial results | At-track photos Carson Kvapil finished third, falling short in his quest to become the first-ever driver to earn his first three wins consecutively. Anthony Alfredo and Brandon Jones completed the top five. Justin Allgaier, Brennan Poole, Harrison Burton, Jeb Burton and Sheldon Creed rounded out the top 10. Parker Retzlaff, Sam Mayer, Taylor Gray and Rajah Caruth secured the last four spots in the O'Reilly Series Chase. Caruth was running second with three laps to go, but went spinning down the backstretch after a push from teammate Justin Allgaier to cause the overtime-setting caution. He finished 32nd, but 18 total stage points were enough to lock the JR Motorsports driver into The Chase. Several Chase bubble drivers suffered damage in early crashes. At Lap 27, Mayer and Brent Crews were caught up in a Turn 3 crash triggered by Patrick Staropoli, forcing Crews' No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota to the garage. Eighteen laps later, Corey Day and Anthony Alfredo made contact down the frontstretch, Day spinning across the track and into Sammy Smith and William Sawalich. Sawalich and Crews entered Friday's regular-season finale just one point about the cutline over fellow JGR driver Taylor Gray. But neither driver will advance to the postseason after Gray's 26th-place effort secured the final spot.
