Cup practice, qualifying canceled by rain; Logano on pole for Kansas Chase race

NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying at Kansas Speedway were canceled after inclement weather washed out Saturday’s on-track sessions. After winning last Saturday at the Bristol Night Race, Joey Logano will start on the pole for Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 (3 p.m. ET, USA Network, HBO Max, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), per the NASCAR Rule Book. RELATED: Starting lineup Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, will join the No. 22 Team Penske Ford on the front row. Four drivers -- Chase Elliott (178.932 mph), Denny Hamlin (175.290 mph), Logano (172.601 mph) and Alex Bowman (164.178 mph) initially turned laps at the 1.5-mile facility at the start of Saturday's practice session. However, Mother Nature prevented more action from occurring, with no one else able to wheel a circuit before practice was put on hold and eventually canceled. Sunday's Kansas contest will be the fourth race in this season’s Chase presented by Mobil 1 and the first of three consecutive postseason races on 1.5-mile tracks. Larson holds a one-point advantage over Hamlin atop the championship table. This story will be updated.
