Corey Day emerged from a fierce lead-swapping battle with Carson Kvapil, holding on late to corral a convincing win in Saturday's NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race, gaining ground in the postseason pursuit at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Day led a career-best 136 of the 201 laps in Saturday's Focused Health 302, with his No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet kissing the Turn 4 wall on the final lap and claiming a slim 0.287-second margin of victory at the checkered flag. The pole starter's third win of the season was also the third of his O'Reilly Auto Parts Series career. Defending series champion Jesse Love was third for Richard Childress Racing, with Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Brent Crews fourth and Taylor Gray fifth. Seven of the top nine spots were filled by title-eligible drivers in The Chase presented by Mobil 1. Day and Sam Mayer divided the stage wins. Mayer was the victor in Stage 2, but dropped back after a pit-stop penalty for an uncontrolled tire during the intermission. He recovered to finish sixth in the No. 41 Haas Factory Team Chevrolet. A major collision between Chase contenders Justin Allgaier and Brandon Jones left both with abbreviated days -- and finishes outside the top 30 -- at the 1.5-mile track. Jones' No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota spun after his crew left a wheel loose during a pit stop, collecting Allgaier's No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet as it veered toward the outside retaining wall. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series' next race is Saturday's Blue Cross NC 300 (4 p.m. ET, The CW, ESPN Unlimited, PRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This story will be updated.
