Roush Fenway, Germain, Front Row and Circle Sports notified by NASCAR
NASCAR handed out written warnings to four Sprint Cup Series teams Thursday for issues in technical inspections last weekend at Kentucky Speedway.
Teams issued warnings (in order of their rank in Sprint Cup owner standings) were:
20) The Roush Fenway Racing No. 16 Ford driven by Greg Biffle
21) The Germain Racing No. 13 Chevrolet driven by Casey Mears
33) The Front Row Motorsports No. 34 Ford driven by Brett Moffitt
36) The Circle Sport Racing No. 33 Chevrolet driven by Alex Kennedy
The four teams received no formal penalties for their multiple trips through the inspection line, but an accumulation of warnings would result in a P1-level penalty, according to the NASCAR deterrence system that was introduced before the 2014 season.
P1-grade penalties include receiving the last pick in pit-stall selection, reduced track time in practice and/or qualifying, a demotion in the inspection order and other sanctions.
