Q: What is PitCommand?

A: NASCAR.com raises the bar for live, online race coverage with the addition of TrackPass with PitCommand. Available for NASCAR Winston Cup races only, PitCommand taps into the GPS telemetry sent from the telemtry box in all 43 cars and pipes an uninterrupted stream of data right to your computer in real-time—even on a 56K modem! The result is a fully customizable experience that truly brings the inner workings of race teams closer to the fans.

Q: Who can get it?

A: In November, all NASCAR fans will have access to PitCommand and all elements of the TrackPass service as part of a 30-day free trial offer. In addition to the new PitCommand coverage of Winston Cup races, members have access to RaceCast coverage of all three Cup practice sessions, Cup qualifying, Busch Series qualifying, and the Busch race.

Existing TrackPass subscribers can preview PitCommand for free for the remainder of the 2002 season. Those wishing to upgrade their membership for 2003 can do so at a discounted rate of just $2 additional monthly (annual subscribers are prorated for the remaining months of your subscription) to upgrade for 2003.

For new subscribers, TrackPass with PitCommand is available as a FREE trial for 30 days – just in time for the last three races of the season. New subscribers have the option of signing up for a monthly or annual membership. Monthly subscribers get full TrackPass access for a monthly charge of $6.95 per month. Annual TrackPass membership is just $50 for 14 months—through Feb. 1, 2004. That's less than $4 per month, and just 10 cents per covered NASCAR event.

Q: When can I get it?

A: On Oct. 31, 2002, we will begin to take orders on NASCAR.com, just in time for the Pop Secret Microwave Popcorn 400 at the North Carolina Speedway.

Q: I'm already a TrackPass subscriber. Do I have to re-register to access PitCommand?

A: No, current TrackPass subscribers can preview PitCommand FREE in November and then upgrade their membership to take advantage of this incredible offer.

Q: Will my current TrackPass subscription rate change for 2003?

A: Yes. Increased development and operating costs have been factored into the new pricing of TrackPass with PitCommand. That's why we are offering current subscribers free access to the application during the final 2002 races for evaluation.

Q: Can I subscribe just to PitCommand without subscribing to TrackPass?

A: No. PitCommand is a premium element of the TrackPass service. Accessing PitCommand requires membership to TrackPass.

Q: What are the system requirements for PitCommand?

A: 1. Windows 98 or better

2. RealOne player

3. Java v. 1.3

Accessing PitCommand requires users to download a recent version of Java, version 1.3 or higher, as well as the PitCommand application itself. Broadband users can expect overall download times of between 1 and 5 minutes; however, dial-up Internet users should allow approximately 20 minutes for downloading prior to the race. To ensure that you do not miss any of the action, make sure you download and test the application before the race!

Q: Is PitCommand available for Mac users?

A: Currently PitCommand is designed for Windows only. A Mac version has been contemplated for future development.

Q: I have downloaded Java, what should I do when I see the pop up 'Do you want to install and run the signed applet distributed by Turner Sports Interactive Inc.'?

A: Click on the button that says "Grant Always"

Q: I have AOL 7.0 or 8.0 and PitCommand is not working properly?

A: NASCAR.com and AOL are currently working through this technical issue. We anticipate this issue to be resolved shortly

Q: What about other improvements?

The key improvements for 2003 are reduced delays in both the RaceCast application and the audio feeds. The decision to implement these improvements was the direct result of feedback from TrackPass subscribers.

Q: What else is new about TrackPass?

A: Exclusive member features added for 2003 include members-only contests, and behind-the-scenes coverage of the NASCAR Winston Cup Awards Ceremony.
