It’s official: See Martinsville under the lights

New met old on Thursday as Martinsville, the oldest track on the circuit, was lit up under a glow of an estimated 750 LED lights mounted from both inside and outside the track. The 2017 season marks the 0.526-mile track's 70th anniversary.

Martinsville Speedway hosted a 'flipping the switch' event on Thursday night, showing off its new lights.

As the track wrote on its Twitter account: 'Glenn Wood's red '37 Ford was throaty & the lights were bright.'

A car like that just looks right at a historic venue such as Martinsville.

Let there be lights.
