Leavine Family Racing: Kasey Kahne aims for Dover return

CONCORD, N.C. — Leavine Family Racing said Sunday that 38-year-old Kasey Kahne hopes to return to NASCAR competition next weekend.

Kahne has missed the last four Monster Energy Series races since being treated for heat exhaustion after the Sept. 2 event at Darlington Raceway. Regan Smith has filled in for Kahne in LFR’s No. 95 Chevrolet.

The organization indicated through its social media accounts that Kahne would undergo a test this week. Pending successful results and medical clearance, Kahne would be back in the driver’s seat for next Sunday’s Gander Outdoors 400 (2 p.m. ET, NBCSN/NBC Sports App, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) at Dover International Speedway.
