Power Rankings: Our favorite Clint Bowyer broadcast moments

We fully expected to enjoy Clint Bowyer’s first season in the NASCAR On FOX booth. We didn’t realize we’d enjoy it as much as we did though. Clint was appointment television and exceeded our wildest expectations. He was the perfect mix of unpredictable irreverence and solid analysis, and he and Jeff Gordon proved to be a delightful team. And with his first season nearing completion, we wanted to power-rank our favorite Bowyer Broadcast moments.

Few and far between are those drivers who can transition from fire suit to leisure suit so successfully, but by golly, Clint and the rest of the group pulled it off during throwback weekend at Darlington. Pure 70s game-show host vibes here.

This isn’t a specific moment, per se, but rather any time Clint was in an iRacing rig during a Pro Invitational Series broadcast. It usually ended like this. It was hilarious. Each time he raced, it’s like he forgot everything he learned from the previous iRacing event. And given his attention span, that isn’t outside the realm of possibility. But kudos to him for putting himself out there like this.

Being one of Kansas’ favorite sons carries certain privileges, such as getting to throw the ball around with the Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar quarterback. We’re happy to report that Clint caught a pass from Mahomes. Add him to your fantasy football teams, folks. And we mean Clint.

One instinct that never leaves a race-car driver is the one where they’re always turning in circles to the left. Regardless, Clint’s in-car conversations with drivers were next level. There’s nothing I’d love more during a long road trip than for my phone to ring and to hear “HEY, BOWYER UP IN THE BOOTH, GOT A COPY THERE, BUD? THAT TRACTOR LOOKS LIKE IT’S GOT SOME GIDDYUP TODAY.”

What better way to kick off the Bristol Dirt Race than with Clint and Jeff in a dirt late model ripping the top? HECK YES. And look at that little steering wheel they gave Jeff Gordon. How nice. Please tell us Jeff knew he wasn’t actually steering and this wasn’t like Dwight Schrute at the wheel of the booze cruise.

We’d like to buy a round for whomever put Clint and Jeff in front of a bottle of distilled spirit/truth serum so they could discuss the infamous incident at Phoenix Raceway. You remember the incident – the one where an enraged Clint ran at high speed in a straight line to Jeff’s hauler. Anyways, this segment was Emmy-worthy. And after a few shots, one thing you didn’t have to worry about was either of these fellows running at high speed in a straight line.

When transitioning to a new profession, sometimes a driver gets a bit confused without a spotter telling him or her where to go.

Clint’s a man of his word, and fulfilled the terms of his Super Bowl wager with Aric Almirola. But in true Bowyer fashion, not without his signature flair. We’ve never had a debris caution for Lombardi Trophy smithereens but there’s a first time for everything. We still don’t know why Clint didn’t try to use his notorious attention span and claim he forgot making that wager.

The road-course smash-up before the Daytona Road Course holds the top spot. Clint and Jeff turning laps in rental cars (for which we hope they didn’t decline the additional insurance) and smashing into each other was pure destructive joy. It was the sort of stunt during which you could hear the “Jackass” theme song playing in your head and it was magic. It’s also why rental-car companies won’t rent to us anymore but by golly it was worth it.
