Track profile: Everything to know about Oswego Speedway

Constructed as a horse racing track, Oswego was converted into a 3/8-mile dirt track in 1951 before being paved the following year. In 1962, Oswego was transformed into its current 5/8-mile configuration.

Several aspects separate Oswego from other facilities in the northeast. When the New York State Fairgrounds were closed after 2015, Oswego became the site for Super DIRT Week every September.

Oswego is also the last track in the United States that features Supermodifieds in its weekly program, which are front-engine, rear-drive vehicles with a big block engine mounted on the left side. The track also hosts races for several different Supermodified divisions.

During its existence, Oswego has made infrequent appearances on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule. After holding eight races during the late 1980s, Oswego returned on the calendar in 2016 and has hosted events for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour every year except for 2020.

Tony Hirschman and Ron Silk share the record for most NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour wins at Oswego with three each. Tony's son Matt Hirschman follows closely behind with two wins, where he is tied with Brian Ross and Justin Bonsignore as the other multi-time winners at the track.
