Cup Series teams to win back-to-back championships

In NASCAR Cup Series history, teams have won back-to-back championships 16 times. Scroll through to see which organizations were able to reach the mountaintop in consecutive years.

Tim Flock and Buck Baker's championship wins in 1955 and 1956 gave the Carl Kiekhaefer-owned Mercury Outboards Chrysler team the honors of becoming the first team in Cup Series history to win back-to-back titles.

Lee Petty won Cup Series championships for Petty Enterprises in 1958 and 1959.

Bud Moore saw his Bud Moore Engineering team go back-to-back in 1962 and 1963 with Joe Weatherly behind the wheel.

David Pearson brought two Cup Series titles to Holman Moody in 1968 and 1969.

After father Lee Petty brought home back-to-back Cup Series championships to Petty Enterprises in the late '50s, Richard Petty accomplished the same feat for the family team in 1971 and 1972.

"The King" won consecutive championships again 1974 and 1975.

Cale Yarborough went on a three-year streak of championships from 1976-78 for Junior Johnson and Associates.

Junior Johnson and Associates earned consecutive Cup Series championships again, this time with Darrell Waltrip in 1981 and 1982.

Dale Earnhardt won back-to-back titles for the first of three times in his Cup Series career for Richard Childress Racing in 1986 and 1987.

In 1990 and 1991, "The Intimidator" claimed another pair of championships in consecutive years for team owner Richard Childress (not pictured).

With Cup Series championships in 1993 and 1994, Dale Earnhardt won his sixth and seventh title, cementing his legacy as one of the sport's best to ever do it.

From 1995-98, Hendrick Motorsports went on a four-year run with Jeff Gordon winning titles in 1995, 1997 and 1998. Terry Labonte claimed the crown in 1996.

The team known today as Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing won the Cup Series championship in 2003 and 2004 with Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch.

Seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson went on a historic streak of dominance for Hendrick Motorsports, winning five consecutive titles from 2006-10.

In 2021, Kyle Larson gave team owner Rick Hendrick back-to-back championships after Chase Elliott claimed the hardware in 2020.

After becoming the 16th team in Cup Series history to win back-to-back titles via Joey Logano in 2022 and Ryan Blaney in '23. Team Penske kept up its dominance with Logano and Blaney vying for a title in 2024. The No. 22 driver came out on top in a Penske 1-2 finish, capturing his third title and capping off the organization's three-peat.
