Team owners in the NASCAR Hall of Fame

Ralph Moody becomes the latest team owner to become inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Richard Petty

Year inducted: 2010

Bio: Owning and operating race teams since before his teenage years, Petty began as an owner with his dad's race team: Petty Enterprises. All 200 of his victories and seven championships as a driver came with the team as the organization amassed 268 wins. In 2009, Petty Enterprises merged with Gillett Evernham Motorsports, becoming Richard Petty Motorsports. The team won five races before merging with GMS Racing at the end of the 2021 season, becoming Petty GMS Motorsports. 

Dale Earnhardt

Year inducted: 2010

Bio: Formed with wife Teresa Earhhardt, Dale Earnhardt formed Dale Earnhardt Incorporated in 1998. Teresa continued owning and operating the team through 2009 after Dale's death in 2001. 

Junior Johnson

Year inducted: 2010

Bio: Owning and operating Junior Johnson & Associates beginning in 1953, Johnson won six titles as an owner: three with Cale Yarborough (1976-78) and three with Darrell Waltrip (1981-82, '85). 

Bud Moore

Year inducted: 2011

Bio: Owning Bud Moore Engineering and later Fenley-Moore Racing, Moore won titles with Joe Weatherly in 1962 and 1963 and won 63 races between 1961 and 2000. 

Glen Wood

Year inducted: 2012

Bio: Wood helped developed Wood Brothers Racing in 1950, an organization that remains active with Josh Berry behind the wheel in 2025. David Pearson won double digit races twice for the team during the 70s, and before Wood's passing in 2019, Ryan Blaney scored the 99th victory for the organization in 2017 at Pocono Raceway. 

Leonard Wood

Year inducted: 2013

Bio: Entering the Hall of Fame a year after his brother, Glen, Leonard was equally responsible for Wood Brothers' longevity and success at NASCAR's highest level. The organization won its 100th Cup Series race in 2024 at Daytona International Speedway, an upset victory with Harrison Burton behind the wheel. 

Cotton Owens

Year inducted: 2013

Bio: Owens won 38 races as an owner, including a championship with David Pearson in 1966. Pearson was responsible for 27 of Owens' victories. 

Wendell Scott

Year inducted: 2015

Bio: A pioneer of the sport, Scott was the first Black driver and owner to win in NASCAR. While he died in 1990, his legacy lives on in the sport with the Wendell Scott Foundation. 

Rex White

Year inducted: 2015

Bio: An owner from 1958-63, White won 26 races and the 1960 championship -- all with him behind the wheel. 

Richard Childress

Year inducted: 2017

Bio: Childress owns and operates one of the most successful race teams in NASCAR history, winning six Cup Series titles with Dale Earnhardt. Austin Dillon, his grandson, won the organization's 117th Cup race in August 2024 at Richmond Raceway. He currently fields two full-time Cup and two full-time Xfinity Series rides. 

Rick Hendrick

Year inducted: 2017

Bio: Arguably the most dominant organization in NASCAR history, Hendrick has 312 Cup Series victories as owner of Hendrick Motorsports. Of his 14 titles, Jimmie Johnson is responsible for seven while Jeff Gordon has four. Most recently, Kyle Larson won a title under the Hendrick Motorsports banner in 2021. William Byron won the team's 300th race at Texas Motor Speedway in 2023. Hendrick currently fields four full-time Cup rides. 

Raymond Parks

Year inducted: 2017

Bio: Owning a race team since before NASCAR's inception, Parks' organization only competed in NASCAR for four seasons: 1949, 1950, 1954 and 1955. His driver, Red Byron, won the first ever premier series championship in 1949. 

Ray Evernham

Year inducted: 2018

Bio: A three-time championship winning crew chief for Jeff Gordon, Evernham opened Evernham Motorsports in 2000 -- which operated through 2008 before a merger with Petty Enterprises. As an owner, Evernham won 13 Cup Series races. 

Robert Yates

Year inducted: 2018

Bio: Owning Robert Yates Racing from 1989 to 2007, Yates won 57 races at the helm of the organization before his eventual retirement. He won three Daytona 500s, including two with Dale Jarrett -- who won the organization's only title in 1999. 

Alan Kulwicki 

Year inducted: 2019

Bio: Operating AK Racing as a driver and owner, Kulwicki won five career races and the 1992 Cup Seires title before his tragic death less than a year later.  

Roger Penske

Year inducted: 2019

Bio: Owning a team in nearly every major American racing seires, Penske entered the NASCAR fold in 1972, but didn't win his first Cup Series title until 2012 with Brad Keselowski. He now owns five championships, including the last three. Joey Logano won in 2018, 2022 and 2024, while Ryan Blaney won in 2023. Penske has 147 Cup victories as he's formed one of the most successful NASCAR organizations in history. Penske currently fields three full-time Cup entries. 

Jack Roush

Year inducted: 2019

Bio: Now operating under the Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing banner, Roush owns 143 Cup Series victories since entering the sport in 1988 as Roush Racing. He won championships with Matt Kenseth in 2003 and Kurt Busch in 2004 before Fenway Sports Group bought into the team in 2007. In 2022, Brad Keselowski bought a stake in the team and began competing as an owner and driver. Roush fields three full-time Cup entries in 2025. 

Tony Stewart

Year inducted: 2020

Bio: Opening Stewart-Haas Racing in 2008, Stewart has two Cup Series championships as an owner, including 2011, when he narrowly beat Carl Edwards on a tiebreaker for his third title as a driver. His other title as an owner came in 2014 with Kevin Harvick. The organization won 70 Cup races before shutting down after the 2024 season. 

Joe Gibbs

Year inducted: 2020

Bio: The only NFL and NASCAR hall of famer, Gibbs retired as head coach of the then-named Washington Redskins to begin an ownership endeavor in NASCAR. Despite success in the Cup Series, Gibbs returned to the Redskins in 2004, coaching four more years while his late son, J.D., operated the race team. Joe returned to the organization for good in 2008. He owns five Cup Series championships and 214 victories, making him one of the best owners in NASCAR history. Gibbs currently fields four full time Cup entries. 

Jimmie Johnson

Year inducted: 2024

Bio: In 2022, the seven-time Cup champion bought a stake in Legacy Motor Club and quickly worked his way to becoming majority owner of the organization in Jan. 2025. Johnson has also competed in select races for the team, piloting the No. 84 Toyota. 

Ralph Moody

Year inducted: 2025

Bio: Co-owner of Holman-Moody Racing from 1957-73, Moody won 96 Cup Series races and back-to-back titles with David Pearson in 1968 and 1969.
