Summer is coming to a close, meaning time is running out for NASCAR Regional competitors to make their championship pursuits.

The cutoff day for NASCAR Local Racing Series national points is Sept. 20, so the next month is crucial for many competitors. Even if a national title is out of the question, there are still chances for drivers to build momentum toward regional or track championships.

Here are five NASCAR Regional drivers to keep an eye on over the rest of August and beyond.

Skylar Holzhausen

As the fight for the national title in Division I of the NASCAR Local Racing Series continues, Skylar Holzhausen is quietly nestled inside the top 10. A veteran Super Late Model competitor in the Midwest, Holzhausen is in a dead heat with reigning NASCAR Local Racing Series Division I national champion Jacob Goede for the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway track title. Holzhausen has the same number of wins at LaCrosse this year as Goede with three, so he looking to gain a pivotal advantage with only a handful of races to go.

James Blewett

Racing has always been a part of James Blewett's life, as he is the son of NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour competitor Jimmy Blewett and the nephew of the late John Blewett III.

James Blewett is enjoying a solid 2026 season at Wall Stadium with one victory and three top fives in the S/K Modified class. Blewett's consistency currently has him inside the top 10 in the NASCAR Local Racing Series Division I point standings.

Jacob Derrick

Jacob Derrick

Nobody has been more dominant in Langley Speedway's Limited Late Model division this year than Jacob Derrick, who has won eight races at the track, along with a Limited Sportsman feature at South Boston Speedway.

Derrick currently sits fourth in the NASCAR Local Racing Series Division II standings, well within striking distance of the lead. Although there are only two twin Limited Late Model features at Langley left before Sept. 20, Derrick is still poised to finish a strong 2026 on a high note.

Racen Stacy

Currently leading the NASCAR Local Racing Series Division I Rookie of the Year standings is Racen Stacy, who primarily competes at Arrowhead Speedway in Oklahoma.

Stacy has one victory across 15 features this year, but the 11 top fives are why he is the leading rookie in Division I. More strong runs will be imperative for Stacy over the final month of eligibility in NASCAR Local Racing Series points for him to hold onto Rookie of the Year honors.

William Avila

Across 20 combined features between Arrowhead Speedway and Salina Highbanks Speedway, William Avila has 14 victories.

Not only does Avila lead the Interceptors track standings at both facilities, but he is also atop the Division IV NASCAR Local Racing Series points. Maintaining that efficiency through August and into September will be crucial for Avila to sweep all those titles, along with the Midwest Regional Division IV championship.
