NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series title contender Layne Riggs had a tire go down in the opening moments of Friday’s championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Riggs ultimately finished 32nd after entering the season finale 20 points behind championship leader Kaden Honeycutt. The two were the only remaining eligible Chase presented by Mobil 1 drivers to hoist the trophy at night’s end, and Honeycutt secured the title by winning Friday’s race.

Riggs, driver of the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford, started the 200-mile race in fourth and faded back to eighth on the opening stint, at one point nearly spinning down the backstretch on the second lap. Replays indicated that Riggs and Nick Sanchez made contact, which appeared to have caused rear-end damage.

On Lap 15, Riggs’ right-rear tire went down, forcing an unexpected trip down pit road. He fell two laps down and ended Stage 1 in 34th. Riggs took the wave around after Stage 1 to return back to just one lap off the pace. But at Lap 44, Riggs suffered a second right-rear failure, which caused more extensive repairs and pushed him seven laps in arrears – getting one lap back later on.
Riggs finished the 2026 season second in the points, 83 points back of Honeycutt despite a series-best seven victories.
