Brian Scott and championship leader Austin Dillon show speed in practice

AVONDALE, Ariz. — A pair of Richard Childress Racing drivers topped opening Nationwide Series practice Friday at Phoenix International Raceway, with Brian Scott pacing teammate and championship leader Austin Dillon at the top of the speed chart.
Scott turned the fastest lap of the session at 135.586 mph, followed by Dillon, Regan Smith, Kyle Larson and Trevor Bayne. Rounding out the top 10 were Camping World Truck Series regular Ryan Blaney, who is making a Nationwide start for Penske Racing, Travis Pastrana, and Sprint Cup Series stars Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and Matt Kenseth.
Dillon entered the weekend leading Sam Hornish Jr. by six points with two races remaining. Hornish placed 20 in the weekend’s opening practice. The session featured only one incident, when Chad Hackenbracht crashed in Turns 1 and 2. Hackenbracht was running 25th on the speed chart at the time of the accident.
The Nationwide cars have a final practice slated for Friday at 3:35 p.m. ET, with qualifying and the 200-lap race scheduled for Saturday.
