Comparing William Byron’s fast start to other XFINITY Series stars

Rookie William Byron is off to a fast start in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Following his win on Saturday at Indianapolis, Byron already has three victories in his first 18 starts in the series. Let's see how that compares to the top five winners in XFINITY Series history -- Kyle Busch (89 wins), Mark Martin (49), Kevin Harvick (46), Carl Edwards (38) and Brad Keselowski (35).

First, let's start with Byron's stats in his first 18 starts, which are impressive: At age 19, he has three wins, seven top fives and 12 top 10s and has led 160 laps for JR Motorsports. Byron's wins have come at Iowa, Daytona and Indianapolis (pictured).

Brad Keselowski was 23 when he hit 18 starts. He had zero wins, zero top fives and zero top 10s, with two laps led for owner Keith Coleman. So, what's the final tally? Here are the leaders in each category after 18 starts: Wins (Byron and Edwards tied at 3), top fives (Byron and Busch tied at 7), top 10s (Byron with 12), laps led (Busch with 471). Seems like Byron is off to an A-OK start if you ask us.
