Martin Truex Jr., No. 78 team go to Washington

U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. and his longtime girlfriend Sherry Pollex to the White House on May 21.

Truex Jr. and Sherry Pollex received warm words from the president for their commitment to fighting cancer.

On Sherry Pollex's brave battles with cancer, President Trump said: 'I want to take a moment to recognize the amazing Sherry Pollex. She is the love of Martin’s life. Sherry — beautiful. Your determination in the face of adversity has been an inspiration to millions of Americans.”

With the same No. 78 Toyota that won the finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway at the White House, President Trump said: “Martin, I have to say your car looks truly amazing. In fact, I want to get in that thing and just drive it right away. Do you mind?”

Truex presented Trump with a replica racing helmet with illustrations depicting some of the team’s special moments.

Truex Jr. brought the bulk of his No. 78 team with him to be honored at the White House.

The 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup made the trip as well.
