Drivers talk about the 2016 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Kevin Harvick: 'I have news for you: there is no plan. Expect the unexpected.'

Brad Keselowski on if he's talked to Matt Kenseth since Richmond: 'I don't want to play the conversation game. I don't think I need to have a whole media discussion any time there is a small bump on the race track, whether it is me or somebody else. That is just how racing is going to be. We don't have to play drama queen for everything. That is how I feel about it.'

Jimmie Johnson on if his time with crew chief Chad Knaus is up: 'I really don't (know). You know, at times the frustration builds up. You know, there's aspects there where it's like, 'Wow, this isn't fun and we could do without that.' But the crew chief's job has changed so much and we do have lots of new blood coming in. We have two young engineers that are growing in their positions just under Chad.'

Tony Stewart on young Chase Elliott: 'For the first three years I knew Chase, I didn't even know he could talk because for the first three years I knew him, he never said one word to me. But he would be at the car every week. Bill (Elliott) would bring him to the car every week because he wanted to come down and see us. I got him to smile maybe four or five times in the three years. But he wanted to come down here. You knew he was engaged. You knew he wanted to be there. You could see it in his eyes. ... When he got a little older, he started talking finally. I didn't know if he was going to be mute or what. I didn't know if he could talk.'

Chase Elliott on if he's spoken to Jeff Gordon since getting tangled at Richmond: 'He sent me a text after the race. I knew it wasn't his fault. I wasn't concerned with it at all. It was a racing deal. You hate, of course, it had to be two teammates ...  But at the end of the day we both get it and our teams get it.'

Kyle Busch: 'I certainly think you've got a different or a better mindset of being able to race for a championship after accomplishing one because you knew what it took to accomplish that, and last year it was not all that stressful. We just kind of let it play out and be as it was and we're going to be happy with the results no matter what, so you've kind of got to do the same thing this time around and let fate be with you.'

Kyle Larson: 'I guess it's cool to know that I would have made it in on points, but I'm happy I got that win. I think it's always nice when you can say, I made the Chase off of a win, and not like, I pointed my way in, even though that's tough to do. I haven't done it.'

Martin Truex Jr. on Toyota's dominance: 'They're all dangerous. Anybody could get hot at the right time, win a race here or there, but I don't think you really race -- you don't race one guy or two guys until Homestead. Up until then, you've got to worry about yourself. ... That's the biggest thing and really hope to -- just hope to be able to take care of your own destiny.'

Austin Dillon: 'Yeah, Tony (Stewart), he's unlike any other guy you race against really.  He has a vision, and his vision's very clear about how he wants to be raced.  I've learned that over three years. It's nice knowing that. You know where you stand with him. I mean, you really do. If you're faster than him, he usually lets you go more than others do. Then when he's coming through there, if he's catching you, and you are not prompt of getting out of the way, he's going to let you know the same way, which is fine. So you just kind of know what you got there, know where he stands every time.'

Jamie McMurray: 'It might even be harder, the fact you have a teammate in it, because last year there were times, like maybe at Dover, that on some of the restarts (Kyle Larson) might let you in line knowing what you're racing for versus the one spot he's giving up, where maybe that wouldn't have happened, especially if you're both not trying to advance to the next round.'

Kurt Busch: 'As far as our team, it's business as usual.  We have a really strong team. I really like Tony Gibson and the way he leads this group of guys. Our pit stops have been phenomenal as of late. The way that we've approached our season as a team, the 41 car, it showed with our consistency. It showed all the way until Bristol, when we finished every race on the lead lap.'

Denny Hamlin: 'I don't think you have to be great the first round. I know that winning the first race last year gave us almost two weeks to kind of relax and prepare for the next round. That's the big advantage you have being great in the first round.'

Chris Buescher: 'I think we can make it into the second round. Consistency was a huge part of our championship last year. We were able to get a couple wins and be right there with the guys we were racing every week. That was a big part of it. For this first three races, I definitely think consistency will play a really big part of it.'

Matt Kenseth: 'I feel like just on pure performance this year except four or five weeks I feel like our performance has been pretty good. We just haven't been very consistent and haven't really gotten the finishes for just all kinds of different reasons, which is good and bad. If you have one recurring problem, usually figure out how to fix it. When you have different things going on, sometimes it's hard to pinpoint and sometimes its things you can't fix.'

Carl Edwards: 'This is the Chase, anything can happen. By this time next week we could be at each other's throats.'

Joey Logano: 'We all try to get in each other's heads and say and do things. That is part of the game. Some drivers will try to do that type of stuff and some just focus on the job at hand. … I don't have any (drivers) in my head. I don't hear them.'
