Matt Kenseth may be the biggest beneficiary of Joe Gibbs Racing's recent stranglehold on the 'Magic Mile,' with three of the past six race trophies ending up with him, including the last two. A JGR driver has won at New Hampshire for three consecutive races. 'The last few times we've been here, we've just had fast race cars. JGR, Penske showdown set?:

Chevrolet hasn't won a Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire since '12, when Kasey Kahne took first. In the races since, each has been won by Toyota or Ford, with five for Joe Gibbs Racing and two to Team Penske. Despite Chevy's recent resurgence it would be an upset to see a non-Gibbs or Penske car take the checkered. Joe Gibbs Racing's Carl Edwards will start on the pole, lining up next to Martin Truex Jr.'s No. 78 Toyota, a JGR affiliate.

Taming the bull

After their run-in at Chicago, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. have put to bed any possibility of a feud.

'We did talk. We're fine; we're good to go,' Truex said Friday. 'We just talked about what our perspectives were on it and agreed that it's over, it's done with and we'll move on and race like we always have.'

Back(up) to the basics

Austin Dillon, currently on the outside of the cutoff for the Round of 12, will have to start Sunday's race in a backup for the first time in his Sprint Cup Series career. In need of a good points day, the third-year driver hopes his backup has as much spunk as the primary.

'It's not the exact same car, it’s a little older car, but same type of car we ran here the first time and we ran pretty solid in that race,' Dillon said.

Baby, it's cold outside

Sunday offers perhaps the most intriguing forecast we've seen thus far, with lows expected to hit 40 degrees -- giving drivers more grip.

'I think it's going to be comfortable for the fans. It will be comfortable for the drivers,' Carl Edwards said Friday.
