A win in November at Texas gave Hamlin a sweep of the Fort Worth, Texas, track for 2010, beating out Matt Kenseth by .488 seconds to earn his eighth and final victory of the 2010 season. Hamlin would ultimately finish second in the 2010 driver standings, 39 points behind champion Johnson.

Greg Biffle led 68 laps and Busch paced the field for 59, but it was Hamlin who ended up in Victory Lane at Michigan after leading for a mere eight laps. The win would be Hamlin's lone trip to Victory Lane in 2011.

The No. 11 used a final-lap pass over Kenseth to nab the lead. He then held off a fast-charging Martin Truex Jr., edging the No. 78 by .010 seconds, the closest finish in the race's history.

Hamlin earned the first road course victory of his career by leading only 10 laps of the 90-lap race -- the most important ones in the end. The victory was redemption for Hamlin's near-win at Sonoma Raceway earlier in the season when a bobble on the final lap allowed Tony Stewart to steal the victory. At Watkins Glen, Hamlin held on to the checkered flag, fending off Truex and Brad Keselowski, who made contact behind him as everyone battled for position.

Then, an ensuing downpour puts an abrupt end to the race, and a fox gets loose on the track.

Hamlin does so by winning in dominant fashion, becoming the first NASCAR Cup Series driver to sweep all three stages in the 2020 season. Hamlin led a race-high 137 laps in his first race back with crew chief Chris Gabehart, who was coming off a suspension.
