Also involved in the incident were Ty Gibbs, driver of the No. 54 Toyota, John Hunter Nemechek, driver of the No. 42 Toyota, and Josh Berry, driver of the No. 21 Ford.

The incident was triggered when John Hunter Nemechek charged to Smith's back bumper entering Turn 3.

Smith slid into the SAFER barrier, and Nemechek's car followed suit, squeezing Smith's car against the wall and sending the No. 38 Ford onto its driver side.

Zane Smith flipped two complete rotations before his No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford landed on all four tires.

Smith averaged the 12th-best running position of the day at 14.8, consistently contending inside the top 10 during Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400.

Instead of fighting for a top 10 when the checkered flag waved, Smith was out of the race after a wild ride.

Smith was ultimately credited with a 31st-place finish while Nemechek and Berry finished 32nd and 33rd, respectively.
