Before and after: The beating and banging at Bristol

Short-track racing sees plenty of beating and banging on cars over the course of a race. The Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway featured lots of that with damage o'plenty on cars. Here's a look at the before and after of several cars.

Before: Matt Kenseth's No. 20 Toyota. Started the race second.

After: Two bouts of tire trouble left this damage on Matt Kenseth's car en route to a 36th-place finish.

Before: Joey Logano's No. 22 Ford. Started the race third.

After: This is the price for a top 10 at Bristol. Left rear damage is typical at Bristol, as Joey Logano found out on his way to a 10th-place finish.

Before: Kyle Busch's No. 18 Toyota. Started the race fifth.

After: Three different incidents at Bristol left Kyle Busch's machine in no shape to finish the race.

Before: Jimmie Johnson's No. 48 Chevrolet. Started the race sixth.

After: Some of the yellow highlighter-style No. 48 has black over it on Jimmie Johnson's car. Johnson finished the race in 23rd.

After: The left rear of Jimmie Johnson's No. 48 Chevrolet doesn't look like it used to after 500 laps at Bristol.

Before: Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s No. 88 Chevrolet. Started the race 20th.

After: Even the runner-up doesn't have a clean car as you can see with the black marks over the No. 88 on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car.
