See snippets of the most colorful quotes from competitors prior to Friday's race at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park (9 p.m. ET, FS1, MRN) to open the title pursuit.

Matt Crafton, No. 88 ThorSport Racing Toyota

Crafton beat out Derek Kraus for the final playoff spot by 17 points but was dissatisfied by the position he was in. ..."We should’ve never been in the position we were in getting to Pocono. The first part of the season got us in that position so that was the most aggravating that we had to go through what we had to go through to fight our way in at the end.”

Grant Enfinger, No. 23 GMS Racing Chevrolet

Enfinger has reached the playoffs multiple times and emphasized the uniqueness of the situation every postseason. ..."Every situation changes. We came in 2019 and won the regular season, had a terrible first round and a blown motor took us out of the playoffs before we really got going. This year, we can kinda right that. In the first round, there’s an opportunity for people to point their way through. Our goal is always to win but this first round, you can point your way through. In the second round, I don’t think that’s the case for us."

Carson Hocevar, No. 42 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet

It's been a roller-coaster year for Hocevar, who's had to overcome a broken tibia to return to the playoffs. ...“Last year, we had a shot but we really didn’t have the speed to go along with it. We were really hanging on to threads and had to take every opportunity we can, where this year, I feel like we are up front every week. Having to really grind last year I think I can take that away for this year.”

Ty Majeski, No. 66 ThorSport Racing Toyota

Majeski's consistency earned him a playoff berth in his first full-time season in the Truck Series. ...“When I came to ThorSport, this is what I envisioned and hoped for. Thankful for the opportunity and do what I always thought I could do. Duke and Rhonda have assembled a great team around me.”

Christian Eckes, No. 98 ThorSport Racing Toyota

Eckes returns to the playoffs after racing on a part-time schedule last season. He discussed his mentality for the postseason. ..."Not making it as big of a deal as you can is probably the best alternative honestly. If you try to freak yourself out and make it more than it is…at the end of the day, it’s just another race. I just need to focus on my job and not on the big trophy at the end of the year yet. If we can get three good finishes at the end of each round, then it will take care of itself.”

Friesen talked about the advantages of having a single, full-time team than multiple for the playoffs. ..."As a team, we have an advantage either way. Everyone at HFR is pulling the rope the same direction. We’re kind of a truck and a half team more or less and it’s helped raise the bar for us and helped float the boat on higher water because of those resources. Being a single truck team in the playoffs, we’ve got a lot of emphasis on these races and they’re spread out so we can really focus on being fast and having perfect trucks."

John Hunter Nemechek, No. 4 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota

Nemechek enters the postseason with only one win compared to five last season. ..."We’re not as dominant as we were last year. We kinda had a rocky playoffs last year. They always say experience is key and being able to have that experience underneath our belt, the good and the bad last year, I definitely feel way more comfortable going into the playoffs this year. I’ve told every one of my guys that I’d rather win five races in the playoffs than win five races in the regular season.”

Ben Rhodes, No. 99 ThorSport Racing Toyota

Rhodes is the defending Truck Series champion and looks to be only the second driver to go back-to-back (Matt Crafton, '13-'14). ..."- “The biggest thing is not overdoing it. A lot of these guys are hungry and I’m hungry too but their hunger can cause them to make mistakes and we need to keep calm and composed no matter what happens and just know that we’ve been here before. We need to savor the moment because win or lose, it’s tough to make the playoffs and advancing. Just getting to the 'final four' is like winning a championship in some ways."

Chandler enters the playoffs coming off a win at Pocono Raceway. ..."When you get a win going into any type of weekend, it just boosts the whole team moral. Winning solves everything. We definitely have momentum on our side and with that being said, I think we are in a good place.”

Zane Smith, No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford

Zane is three-for-three in making the playoffs in his Truck Series career but talked about the added pressure of winning the regular-season title. ..."With how our regular season went, there definitely is a lot of pressure but getting to Phoenix is a championship of its own but we gotta get there first before we can win it."
